This was all prompted when I watched a late night Saturday episode of Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri. I had an instant craving that needed to be fixed!

As some of you know I have quite the list of food allergies, so I'm constantly modifying recipes.. it's always a moment of surprise when I have that first bite if it's good or not! It's basically an experiment every time!

Well.. The french toast was a success! Such a success I had to share :)

Meet Christen, Chris and their most adorable little red head you'll ever meet, Marlee! I was so excited to get Christen's inquiry.. 1.) because she explained "No, we don't really know where the red hair comes from! haha!" .. and 2.) because Marlee was turning one in August so she wanted to have the setting match Marlee's party theme of bugs and flowers! We decided there's no better place to go then.... a garden nursery! :) Thanks to the all resourceful Google, I did a quick search which led me to Bennett Nurseries. The owner of the nursery was more than helpful and welcomed us in with open arms (I love the South!). It was a BEAUTIFUL spot for this session and I'm just in love with how it turned out. Below are a few of my favorites!

2011 was a year to remember and a year I'll never forget.

It was the year I got my business license in the State of Alabama and officially made it official (come February it will be a year!).
I *attempted* P90x.
I became an Aunt and realized I have so much love I don't even know how to express.
I racked up quite the mileage driving to and from Alabama to Ohio.. so thankful it's only a 6 hour drive! (but seriously, most of the time my family and friends didn't where I was).
I ran a Huntsville Groupon Deal of the Day which has allowed me to meet so many wonderful families and couples! I am extremely grateful for its success so far!
The first of my friends started getting hitched (meaning mini reunions)!
I celebrated my one year anniversary working part-time for Bella Baby Photography... which also means I've been in Huntsville for over a year now!
I realized just how admirable, loving and inspirational grandparents are. I hope I never forget the times I shared with them. Lots of love to A.F., Papa, Grandma Jody and Nana. Miss you always.

2011 was a whirlwind. It was a year of growth. New adventures, travels and traditions. I'm so glad I had my camera along to capture it all. It was a delight going through these images from this past year. Thank you all again for allowing me to share in this time!

Yesterday I celebrated my 25th birthday :) And by passed a quarterlife crisis! I've been so busy lately with sessions and catching up on editing that I haven't stopped to take a step back. Yesterday, I made sure to take that step back. Right around this time last year, my new venture was just beginning. I had no idea what was to come, but I was excited. This past year has been a whirlwind and I have enjoyed every minute. Huge thanks to my family, friends and clients for supporting me a long the way! You have no idea how thankful I am and how much it means! Cheers to another great year!

Thanks Alex for surprising me with my first ever Gigi's cupcake! It made for a perfect ending to my day :)

Kate and Gerry got married on a very *warm* July summer day! I always feel for the groom and groomsmen in their layered suits .. but then when it's cold, I feel for the bride and bridesmaids! It was beautiful nonetheless with the sun shining bright! Kate and Gerry, both as individuals and as a couple, are easy going, caring and fun-loving. I have to quote Kate here: "We don't want the day to be self centered, but rather a celebration of all the people, family and friends, that have gotten us to this point." The day was just that.

Thank you, Kate and Gerry, for having me be a part of your wedding day! It was such a joy to share in! Also, a big thanks to Amanda Baker, who second shot with me! I couldn't have done it without you :)

Meet my cousin and his beautiful family! Julie and Anthony had their first baby girl back in June. Ava Grace is her name, and she was just a tiny little thing when I first met her and oh-so sweet. They gave me warning that Woody, their dog, loves to guard Ava and that she's the first one he checks on when he enters a room. They weren't kidding! She's back, by popular demand! That's right, my niece. At one point she was all over this blog. She was welcomed into this world with a post, she won you over with her many adorable faces, you sat in on her first meeting with her "brother" Charlie and you got a glimpse of her first week of life! I adore this little girl! She has added so much light to our family. I can't believe she'll be 5 months this week!!! Below are a few of my favorites from when I visited her at 3 months.. I snuck in the random Avery's 1st day at the beach! I couldn't get over how cute her ladybug bathing suit was!! Be sure to play the video at the end.. good ole peek-a-boo with Auntie! :)

I first met this little one when I photographed her and her family back in June. That first year goes by so fast, so her mom and I decided to have another session dedicated to her :) Her personality came alive! Last Friday and Saturday, Atlanta comedians Tushar Singh, Mike Albanese, Rob Haze and Krishna Prasad came out to the Flying Monkey Arts Center at Lowe Mill and put on a hilarious show for Huntsville. All proceeds from the event went to the Aarav K. Singh Neonatal Memorial Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation. It was in memory of Aarav Kumar Singh, son of Hemant and Preeti Singh. Aarav was born as a micro-preemie in Huntsville, Alabama on October 25, 2009. He was in the NICU for three and a half weeks before passing away on November 19, 2009. The family is very appreciative of the neonatal nurses and doctors at Huntsville Hospital.

Hemant and Preeti wanted a way to keep their son's memory alive and raise awareness about the neonatal community. Most importantly they want to give back to the NICU - including the nurses and doctors who take care of these precious babies and the parents who experience life in the NICU. This set just makes me smile! We headed to downtown Huntsville for this session. I've been in Huntsville almost a year now (year in October!) and I believe this was my first time ever photographing a session downtown... loved every minute.. and I always look forward to when people suggest it! The entire area has such character. To me, it's quaint and simple. I remember it being an especially hot day.. so to cool off (and to be rewarded) we stopped by Sam & Greg's for some treats! A Charity Stand Up Comedy Event in Huntsville ... this weekend!

The Atlanta Comedy Tour comes to Huntsville this Friday and Saturday and I'm excited to announce I'll be there to photograph! Aarav K. Singh Neonatal Memorial Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation is hosting the event in memory of Aarav Kumar Singh, son of Hemant and Preeti Singh. This summer I was back and forth between Huntsville and Ohio for weddings, weddings and more weddings! Some work, some play (who am I kidding, all play even when it was work!). During those trips I tried to squeeze in sessions like this for my hometown folks! Erin was one of the 5 winners from my Facebook Giveaway I did in March. Brock and Erin have been dating for seven and a half years.. seven and a half years! I figured by the time I blogged this, they would be engaged! (No pressure Brock!) All jokes aside, they are head over heels for each other. For this session they took me to Alms Park Pavillion (not to be confused with Ault Park, which I did make that mistake of going to). I just fell in love with these two (and Erin's gorgeous red hair and cheek to cheek smile!!) Check out some of my favorites below :)

My favorite part of any wedding day is spending time with the bride and groom and simply admiring their happiness for one another. The bridal party is favorite number two. They always add such character and I love what they bring out in the bride and groom. Favorite number three is the Reception. And these people knew how to party! I adore pets. I love including them in sessions. And they add such personality! Pets become a member of the family and I love capturing that special relationship! Before Pam and I met, I asked her what she wanted me to make sure I captured. She answered: "We are a family. Our daughters are gone and have their own families now, but we still have a family unit at home with the dogs to keep us company in our declining years. By picking a location that is meaningful to you, you make your session that more unique. When Shawna and I were brainstorming locations, she mentioned Green Mountain Trail. I soon learned that they spend quite a bit of time there! Derrik loves going there with his girls, Makena and Sophia. It's their daddy-daughter time! On their wedding day, May 21st, Courtney's Grandfather would have been 74. She wanted her grandparents to be close to her on her special day, so she requested for an untraditional setting. They exchanged their vowels standing before her grandparents, Billy and Jewell, at Faith Memorial Cemetery. Mark McCarter of The Huntsville Times describes it best: "A celebration like none you've seen before. Courtney King, pretty in pink, and Drew Hughes, casual in a blue shirt, were standing before a mausoleum wall at Faith Memorial Cemetery late Saturday afternoon, exchanging their vows. Holding a wedding at a cemetery would, at first blush [...]." But after meeting Courtney and Drew and understanding their intentions, one would soon realize what a wonderful tribute it was. Happy Birthday to my better half. I took this picture of Alex while we were in Seattle on the Safeco Field Tour. He is a sports lover. Ask him any question related to sports and he'll give you the answer plus a fun fact and throw in an anecdote. This is just one of the many reasons why I adore him so much. Visiting ballpark stadiums has been a hobby for him since he was little. When he goes, it's like a kid in a candy store.

Travel. Besides photography, it's one of my most favorite things to do. I love seeing new places. And I love documenting the experience. When my college housemate Meg moved out to Seattle after graduating, I put it on my list of places to visit. Out of all the places I've been, I have never been out West. I found out I'm in love. The landscape is breathtaking. The air is fresh. Wherever you look, it's like you're looking at a postcard. I have to go back. Meg made sure our 3.5 days spent there were jammed packed with mountain climbing, site seeing, wine tasting, sushi, a stadium tour and ball game. The weekend called for rain, but we lucked out for the most part! Below are my favorites from our trip. Thank you Meg and Ben for being such wonderful hosts!

Kerry Park offers one of the most SPECTACULAR views of the city. Unfortunately, it was down pouring when we went. So now you have to imagine a clear blue sky and Mt. Rainier in the background :)

She's a beauty, but this was the only time we saw her.. on the way to the airport on the last day!

During her first week, I was fortunate enough to spend almost every minute with them, documenting their time together. It was so wonderful to be apart of and capture so many moments that often go unphotographed - her first car ride, her first bed time story, her first bath.. It's hard to believe the next time I see her how different she'll be! I'm so excited to see her grow and become more and more beautiful. Happy Birthday to my beautiful baby niece Avery Josephine. Born on April 27th at 1:06pm. She weighed 8lbs 6oz and measured 19.5 inches. I love her and her every roll. Who I love and admire even more is my sister, Sarah, who delivered her sweet baby girl naturally - by choice. She was a rockstar and I am so proud of her. Sarah.. you're my hero. It was such a unique and emotional experience to be apart of and witness. I am so happy I could document this moment for my sister and brother-in-law. How Do I Book A Portrait Session?

If you are interested in booking a session, please email me at info@laurentomasella.com or call me at 513.213.9551. Upon booking, payment is due in full prior to the time of your session.

When Will I See My Photos?

After your session, your photos will be ready for viewing within 2-3 weeks. Be on the lookout for an email where I will provide you with a password to access your online gallery. Your gallery will remain available online for 2 weeks. During those 2 weeks, you will be able to order online. If you have trouble deciding on what to order, I am more than happy to schedule a time to meet with you.
