Courtney's mom contacted me only a few days before her daughter's wedding day. Courtney and her fiance Drew had planned a spontaneous wedding only a week before. On their wedding day, May 21st, Courtney's Grandfather would have been 74. She wanted her grandparents to be close to her on her special day, so she requested for an untraditional setting. They exchanged their vowels standing before her grandparents, Billy and Jewell, at Faith Memorial Cemetery.
Mark McCarter of The Huntsville Times describes it best: "A celebration like none you've seen before. Courtney King, pretty in pink, and Drew Hughes, casual in a blue shirt, were standing before a mausoleum wall at Faith Memorial Cemetery late Saturday afternoon, exchanging their vows. Holding a wedding at a cemetery would, at first blush [...]." But after meeting Courtney and Drew and understanding their intentions, one would soon realize what a wonderful tribute it was. Having so much respect and love for your grandparents is truly heartwarming. God bless you Courtney and Drew and congratulations! It was an honor to share in your day. Read more about their story:
